Trent Richardson and the Alabama Crimson Tide lost an overtime thriller at home to LSU during the regular season. Some argued the Tide should have been eliminated from the BCS Championship talk as a result because they didn't win their conference. Some argued that an LSU and Alabama rematch was inevitable because the two were simply the best teams. On January 9, the Tide proved the latter correct, stifling the Tigers' offense on the way to a 21-0 win for the National Championship.
