In early February, the world suffered from a contagion known as Linsanity. Jeremy Lin, an undrafted guard, became the most popular player in the NBA for how he almost single-handedly carried the New York Knicks at point guard while subbing for an injured Baron Davis. Before that happened, he was fourth on the depth chart and was nearly released. He led the Knicks from a probable losing season to the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, where the Knicks were eliminated by eventual champion Miami. He signed with the Houston Rockets in the offseason as a free-agent.
