It’s rare that a gymnast who did not win an all-around gold medal becomes the pop culture talk of the Olympics, but McKayla Maroney did it with her quirky facial expression following a silver medal performance on vault at the Olympics on August 5. Maroney blew the landing on her second attempt, costing her the gold. On the medal podium, her “McKayla is not impressed” look showed up around the world in meme’s, superimposed over everything from pictures of breakfast cereal to the moon landing.
