An Old Metairie institution, Sal's Sno-balls has been around since 1960.
Each morning owner Steven Bel gets up at the crack of dawn to go to the West Bank to get the hundreds and hundreds of pounds of blocked ice he will need to make it through the day.
Bel started working at the stand at the age of eight. Bel later bought the stand from Mr. Sal who started on the corner of Metairie Road and Helios Avenue in front of his house.
