The 50 must-have New Orleans records
Bonerama - "Bringing it Home" - Bonerama - 2006
Bonerama has and probably always will be considered a “live band.” Equipped with four trombones, the band, led by former Harry Connick Jr. band members Mark Mullins and Craig Klein, has yet to release a full studio album, opting for live recordings instead. While the band has managed to recreate some of that live stage magic on their most recent EP, their live acts are so full of energy and fun that you won’t find yourself clamoring for a studio album.
The album “Bringing it Home,” recorded at Tipitina’s where the band was first formed, has Bonerama’s rock-fused brass sound in their best recorded live performance to date. As it has become custom nowadays for Bonerama, the album also features stellar covers, including two Beatles hits from “The White Album” – “Yer Blues” and “Helter Skelter” – and Led Zeppelin’s “The Ocean.”
