HOLLYWOOD, FL - JANUARY 1: Picture taken in the 40s of American film actor Clark Gable (1901-1960). His first leading film role was in 'The Painted Desert' (1931). Growing popularity in tough but sympathetic parts soon labelled him 'The King of Hollywood' reaching its peak with his portrayal of Rhett Butler in 'Gone with the wind'.
