Honoring military on Veterans Day
From Anne Carroll Williams: "Wesley McMahon Carroll : At the age of 21 he survived for 21 days after being shot down in the Solomon Slot off the coast of Choiseul Island in February 1943. He and three other survivors traveled from island to island, hiding from Japanese soldiers and living mostly on coconuts until they were found by native coast watchers and rescued. The survivors used Wesley's Army Air Corps navigators watch to prove to the coast watchers that they were actually Americans."
