NEW ORLEANS -- More than 1,500 people may be skipping dinner after having a huge and memorable lunch Tuesday.

There was a packed house at the 37th annual Chefs' Charity for Children at the Hilton Hotel.

Nearly a dozen of the city's top chefs, including Emeril Lagasse, Leah Chase, John Besh, Donald Link and John Folse, each prepared a dish for every dinner, after giving them a cookbook and passing along professional cooking tips.

The Chefs' Charity is a key fundraiser for St. Michael's Special School, where the principal was thankful that every ticket sold.  The event was founded close to four decades ago by legendary chef Warren Leruth and his close friend, former WWL-TV news director and editorialist Phil Johnson.

Other chefs participating Tuesday included Greg Reggio, Andrea Apuzzo, Chris Barbato, David Woodward, Goffredo Fraccaro and The Wong Brothers of Trey Yuen.
