NEW ORLEANS -- As the summer kicks in and the temperatures rise to their sultry June norms of 90-plus degrees -- only with an occasional shower to tamp down the heat -- locals head to sno-ball stands to cool off. 

Sometimes topped with condensed milk or stuffed with ice cream, the sno-ball stands in the New Orleans area go far beyond the tradition fare of common fruit flavors, using a wild variety of choices to produce cool treats. 

From pickle-flavored sno-balls to one for the dogs, here's a look at the metro area's more unusual flavors.
