Bizarre National Food Days
It seems almost every conceivable food or drink has a day set aside to honor the said items. In fact, ice cream alone has 14 different days to honor the treat -- including Dec. 13 which every knows as Ice Cream and Violins Day. The following is a peek at some of the more absurd or odd 'national food' days.
A day to honor the fruit cake? Sure, why not? Dec. 27 is the day set aside for fruit cakes -- those cakes made candied fruits and spices often given around Christmas, though not always eaten and not always warmly accepted.
While they never seem to go bad or spoil, Jan. 7 is National Fruit Cake Toss Day, a day to throw away the fruit cake.
