SAN ANTONIO -- Bexar County deputies arrested a local mother for whipping her son about his homework. Gastonleng Francois is charged with injury to a child.
She remains behind bars trying to make a $50,000 bond. An arrest warrant said Child Protectives Services removed the son from her custody on March 2. Deputies said CPS did the same thing in 2008 for different reasons.
According to the warrant, the incident happened on March 1 at a home in the 10000 block of Bermuda Palm. Francois reportedly spanked her son repeatedly with a belt for not completing his homework properly.
Investigators said the six-year-old complained of pain at school the following day. He allegedly attends a church academy in the 9900 block of Kriewald Road. The warrant said the child claimed pain in his stomach and on his upper back. Plus, investigators said the boy could not raise his arm up because of the same problem.
The school called an ambulance that took the alleged victim to a local hospital deputies said. According to investigators, the boy had bruising on the neck, shoulders, and most of his upper back.
Deputies said the child's mother admitted to using a belt to resolve on-going school issues with her son. In fact, the warrant said Francois alleged she had received bad notes from her son's school over the last couple of weeks.
She reportedly claimed talking to him was not helping.
