A tropical wave has formed near the coast of Africa, southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. The wave is moving west at 10-15 mph. Its showers are very disorganized. Any strengthening of this system would be slow to occur... any development would likely come at the end of this week or later. The National Hurricane Center gives it a 40% chance of development in the next five days.

Models are not in good agreement about the strength of this system as it moves westward across the ocean. Some have it strengthening and eventually moving north over the western Atlantic by next weekend. Others have it staying much weaker. In either case, it will not be a threat to our area for the next several days (at least).
