Two murdered and four shot within 24 hours

NEW ORLEANS - A violent 24 hours commenced 2013.

Around 1 a.m. Wednesday, two people were shot in the 1700 block of Abundance Street. One person was shot in the back and the other was shot in the leg.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, a shooting left a victim with a gun shot wound to the back in the 4400 block of Eastern Street in Gentilly.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, a man was shot in the calf in the 2200 block of Foucher Street in the Uptown area.

Earlier in the day, two other incidents occurred that resulted in fatalities.

Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, an 83-year-old man was found stabbed to death in an apartment in the 3600 block of Tulane Ave. Edward Richardson had been stabbed several times and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, a shooting occurred in the 2300 block of Dreux Street. Antonio Llovet, 28, was fatally shot several times inside a home and died on the scene.
