Natalie Shepherd anchors the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts at WWL-TV. She joins the station from WFLA, the NBC affiliate in Tampa, FL, where she anchored and reported.
Natalie grew up in Milford, Michigan, a small town outside of Detroit. She graduated from Kalamazoo College with a degree in English Literature. At that point in time, she had no idea television would be in her future. But after working as a copy editor for an advertising agency in Chicago, she decided to go back to school to pursue a Master's Degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Choosing broadcast journalism was an easy decision because it combines two loves-- writing and experience the excitement of television every day.
Before landing in New Orleans, Natalie worked at several stations in Michigan, including WILX-TV in Lansing and WWMT-TV in Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo/Battle Creek. While in Tampa, she got to cover a wide range of major news events, from the Super Bowl to the Republican National Convention. And while she hasn't covered any hurricanes, she's gotten her feet wet with several Gulf Coast tropical storms.
When Natalie isn't working, she enjoys running and cycling-- which will come in handy in New Orleans, because she also loves to eat! So, feel free to pass along your restaurant recommendations.
