Donald 'Chick' Foret

Donald “Chick” Foret, a New Orleans native and local attorney, is WWL-TV’s legal analyst and contributor. He also has served as a legal expert for WWL-AM Radio and has been dubbed the “Official Legal Counsel of the Who Dat Nation” by Bobby Hebert and Deke Bellavia of WWL-AM.

A graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans along with three years of undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University and graduate of Tulane Law School, Chick started practicing law in 1977.

With more than three decades of successful trial experience to his credit, Chick is a trial attorney with significant experience in criminal prosecution and defense, as well as supervision and management of felony jury trials and high profile cases. Chick has represented high profile clients, athletes, entertainers and business leaders across a wide range of legal matters, including negotiation and advocacy.

His legal experience includes serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Louisiana, as an Assistant District Attorney in the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office, as an Assistant Parish Attorney in the Jefferson Parish Attorney’s Office, and as the City Attorney for the City of Harahan, and as the Magistrate for the City of Harahan.

In 2001, Chick started as a legal analyst for WWL-TV by covering the trial of former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards. More recently, some of the cases for which Chick has provided in depth coverage are the Henry Glover Trial in December 2010; the Danzinger Bridge Trial in August 2011; and the indictment and conviction of Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin in January 2013.

In his spare time, Chick enjoys spending time with his wife Laurie and his children--Brian, Kristin, and Courtney--and his granddaughter Margaux. He also enjoys following local sports. He is a proud longtime New Orleans Saints season ticket holder and sits courtside at New Orleans Pelicans games.
