Susan Edwards joined the Eyewitness News team in December 2007.
Susan was born in Bangkok, Thailand, but grew up in Alabama, where her parents still reside.
One question she’s always asked and is eager to answer is, “Why New Orleans?”
“To me, there’s no better place to be right now,” Susan said. “This is a fascinating city—rich in culture—that has suffered one of the worst, if not the worst, natural disasters in our nation’s history.
“When this opportunity came about, I knew it was meant for me to be part of the recovery effort, and I’m humbled to be able to do that with such an incredible news team.”
Susan graduated from the University of Alabama, and launched her professional career straight out of school, working as a part-time associate producer at a station in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, all the way up the ranks to weekend anchor and reporter.
After two years in television news, Susan tried her hand at print journalism. She was hired as a general assignment reporter for a daily newspaper in west Georgia, focusing on education, health, religion and the news of the day.
Although the time spent in print was valuable to her career, Susan said she was anxious to take another shot at broadcast news.
Susan had the opportunity to join a station in Huntsville, Alabama, and frequently traveled to cover everything from state politics and severe weather, to entertainment news and even sports.
Over the years, Susan has been the recipient of various news awards for her work in television and print, and is excited to carry that forward with her new news family in New Orleans.
When not on the job, Susan said she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Her interests include music, exercising, traveling, sports and enjoying the arts. But, not surprisingly, she finds herself doing what most other journalists do daily-¬ watching, reading and talking about the news of the day!
If you have a story idea for Susan, she would love to hear from you.
