JEFFERSON PARISH, La. -- Two armed men stormed an apartment building in unincorporated Westwego early Saturday, killing a man inside. Two others escaped gunfire, according to deputies.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office was called to the 900 block of Beechgrove Blvd. around 1:25 a.m., said Col. John Fortunato, a sheriff's spokesman.
Deputies found a 21-year-old man shot inside an apartment, and lying on the floor of a rear bedroom.
The victim, Roger Henry, of Westwego, was pronounced dead at West Jefferson Medical Center.
Detectives said two other men were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. They reported that two gunmen knocked down the door and opened fire. They said the suspects had their faces covered. The two men inside the home at the time were not hurt.
Deputies are working to determine a motive and identify the suspects. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
