MARRERO, La. - Six teens - between the ages of 13 and 19 - were injured as dozens of shots were fired in a Marrero neighborhood Monday night.
None of the victims had injuries that appeared to be life-threatening, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. in the Lincolnshire neighborhood near Sayers and Constantine Drive. The Sheriff's Office reported receiving numerous 911 calls reporting the gunshots fired.
Neighbors reported hearing 30-40 shots fired. Detectives said they found AK-47 & 45 caliber casings scattered across the street and in yards of homes.
Some of the victims told police that they were hanging out, waiting for a ride to the parades, when shots rang out, according to the JPSO.
The 13 year-old from Marrero was shot multiple times. He was transported to University Hospital where his injuries, according to attending physicians did not appear to be life-threatening. The remaining victims were identified as Akili Dailey, 17, Iren Paul, 18 of Marrero, Davanti Butler, 19 of Marrero, a16 year-old from Marrero and a 16 year-old from Harvey.
The JPSO said none of the victims could give a description of the shooters.
