GRETNA, La. – Three men are in critical condition after a car pulled up next to theirs on the Westbank Expressway Saturday night and those inside began firing.
According to the Gretna Police Department, the victims car was near the Lafayette Street down ramp when the other vehicle pulled alongside and its occupants fired shots into the first car.
The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m.
Gretna Police said both cars crashed the the suspects got out and fled on foot into nearby neighborhoods.
Police were able to find one suspect, identified as 25-year-old Edward Coleman, hiding in a garden nearby. The search for the other suspects, which included the use of K-9 dogs, was to no avail.
Coleman was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Gretna Police said they found several semi-automatic handguns and assault rifles in the suspects’ car.
