TICKFAW, La. — The body of a Tickfaw native killed in combat in Afghanistan is expected to arrive Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport, will it will then be driven along a route open to the public to pay their respects.
Chris Drake, 20, was killed May 26 in Bagram when the vehicle he was in was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. He had been deployed for only a month-and-a-half before the attack took his life.
Drake was flown back to the United States on May 28, when his family traveled to Delaware to receive his body.
A procession will take his body from the Hammond airport down Highway 190 to M.J.R. Friendly Service Funeral Home in Denham Springs, La.
The funeral will be held June 10 at 11 a.m. at Eagle Heights Church on La. Highway 1064 and will be open to the public.
