The funeral for the murdered Bourbon Street dancer will take place tonight in Hammond, two weeks after her she first disappeared and was found washed ashore on a Mississippi beach.
Visitation for Jaren Lockhart, 23, will be from 5-7 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. at the Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home.
Lockhart’s family has requested that donations be made to Hancock Bank or Whitney Bank to the Jaren Lockhart Memorial Fund to help with funeral expenses.
On Wednesday, the Hancock Co. (Miss.) Sheriff’s Department said evidence in the murder investigation was moved to FBI headquarters in Quantico, Va.
Meanwhile, one of the suspects in her death, Margaret Sanchez, is being held on a $1 million bond. The other suspect, Terry Speaks, was set for extradition back to North Carolina where he is being charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
Lockhart’s torso first washed ashore in Bay St. Louis, Miss., on June 7. A day later, her head and legs were found from Pass Christian, Miss., to Long Beach, Miss.
