NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan was arrested this weekend in Jefferson Parish and booked with drunk driving.
Morgan was arrested about 6 a.m. Saturday on Earhart Expressway, near South Causeway Boulevard, according to Louisiana State Police Trooper Melissa Matey.
A citizen called in a report of a motorist with a flat tire, stranded on the side of the road. Troopers arrived and found Morgan there, Matey said.
He appeared drunk, and submitted to a breath test in which he was over the legal limit, she said.
Morgan, 25, was booked in Jefferson Parish with driving under intoxication.
Records show Morgan also lacked a valid driver's license. He was booked on that charge as well.
A Saints spokesman declined to comment Wednesday morning on the arrest.
Morgan, in his third year with the Saints as an undrafted free agent, is expected to take on a bigger role in the offense this season. In 2012, his first full year with New Orleans, he caught 10 passes for 379 yards and scored three touchdowns while playing in 14 games.
He averaged 37.9 yards per catch and eight of his first nine catches went for 27 or more yards, including an 80-yard touchdown against Green Bay in Lambeau Field.
