METAIRIE, La. — Quarterback Drew Brees finished second to New Orleans native Peyton Manning in this year’s Pro Bowl fan voting, a nod to the Saints signal-caller’s national appeal.
Jimmy Graham, meanwhile, finished with the ninth-most overall votes and most for a tight end.
In all, eight Saints players finished in the top 10 for their respective positions in fan voting.
Jed Collins (89,078) was seventh among fullbacks, Brian de la Puente (159,021) was sixth among center, Jahri Evans (163,427) eighth among guards, Cam Jordan (235,428) seventh among defensive ends, Malcolm Jenkins (54,036) ninth among free safeties, Darren Sproles (58,001) 10th among punt returners and Ramon Humber (62,820) ninth among special teamers.
Fan votes count one-third of the tally that will ultimately send players to the all-star game in Hawaii. The other two-thirds come from coaches and players.
Those not finishing in the top 10 but with the possibility of making it via coaches and player voting are cornerback Keenan Lewis, inside linebacker Curtis Lofton, safety Kenny Vaccaro and punter Thomas Morstead.
The Pro Bowl teams will be announced Friday night at 8 p.m. on NFL Network.
For the first time ever, teams will be drafted instead of split among conferences.
