NEW ORLEANS -- Several southeast Louisiana names were taken in the MLB Draft on Thursday and Friday, including former Tigers star Chad Jones, who continues his comeback from a devastating car crash in 2010.

Jones was selected in the 9th round by the Cincinnati Reds. Jones was the 285th overall pick. It’s sweet redemption for a kid who's gone through a lot after a severe injury in a severe 2010 car crash that threatened his life.

LSU pitcher Ryan Eades, who's from Slidell out of Northshore High School was scooped up quickly in the second round. Eades dropped out the first round but fell on his feet as the fourth pick and 43rd overall by the Minnesota Twins.

LSU slugger and Jesuit product Mason Katz, a kid who went undrafted after last season, jumped all the way up to the fourth round. He was selected 125th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Second baseman Jacoby Jones, who's projected to be a center fielder, went in the third round at 87th overall to the Pirates. Jones was selected in the 19th round out of high school.

Terrebonne High School’s Justin Williams, a kid who is committed to play at LSU next season if he doesn't go pro, was selected 13th in the second round -- 52nd overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
