Former UNO standout basketball player Bo McCalebb was named Most Valuable Player in Italy’s highest basketball league, Serie A.

He earned 97 points, 30 more than former Hornet David Andersen, to win the honor.

McCalebb, who finished his UNO career as the Privateers’ and Sun Belt Conference’s all-time leading scorer, averaged 13.9 points and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 63 percent in guiding Montepaschi Siena to a league-best 24-8 record.

McCalebb prepped at O.P. Walker.
