NEW ORLEANS — Scott Shanle will not play in what will likely be his final game with the New Orleans Saints.

The linebacker, who has been with the Saints since being traded for in 2006, is inactive today in the season finale against the Carolina Panthers.

It marks Shanle’s eighth-straight game as a healthy scratch.

Joining Shanle as being inactive  is receiver Saalim Hakim, guard  Ricky Henry, defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker and tight end Michael Higgins. Additionally, cornerback Jabari Greer (concussion) and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (knee) were declared out Friday.

With Hicks down, the Saints will go with an extra defensive end, activating Turk McBride.

For Carolina, quarterback Jimmy Clausen, receiver Joe Adams, running back Jonathan Stewart, linebacker James Anderson, guard Geoff Hangartner and defensive end Greg Hardy.
