METAIRIE, La. — The Saints won’t reveal their initial injury report until sometime this afternoon.
But what we do already know is this – they’ll be shorthanded at right tackle heading into Thursday’s game at NFC South rival Atlanta.
Interim head coach Joe Vitt said Monday Bryce Harris will not play after injuring his lower right leg against San Francisco. Will Robinson, who has been with the team for a week, will likely step into the role in some fashion.
The Saints will bring in tackles this afternoon to see if there’s anyone available on short notice, something Vitt said won’t be easy.
“It’s never easy for any position in the National Football League,” he said. “If it was easy, we wouldn’t have OTAs and training camp. These guys put a lot of time and effort in to learning their craft. So when we bring somebody in, it’s going to have to be a quick turnaround for them. It’s a challenge.”
Zach Strief (left groin) wasn’t close to playing against the 49ers, Vitt said, but is “pretty close” for this week. Charles Brown (right knee) missed every practice this past week and likely isn’t any closer to playing.
