METAIRIE, La. — The Saints placed tackle Bryce Harris on injured reserve Tuesday, filling his roster opening with tight end Michael Higgins as the team continues to fight through injuries on the edge of the offensive line.

The move to put Higgins on the active roster comes with David Thomas being listed as limited a day after the Saints had him down as not practicing.

Harris broke a bone in his right leg in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to San Francisco, becoming the third right tackle to go down during the season. Zach Strief injured his groin against Philadelphia. Two weeks later, Charles Brown hurt his knee.

Strief was limited for the fourth consecutive practice, though interim head coach Joe Vitt said he was moving closer to playing, saying it’s “a possibility. Looks good.” Brown, meanwhile, didn't practice for the fifth straight session.

Vitt isn't worried heading into Thursday night's game at Atlanta (10-1).

“Our right tackle situation is going to be fine in this game,” Vitt said. “There’s a lot of ways we can help that position. There’s a lot of ways which we do help that position. We have the next man up theory that we’ve gone to.”

Defensive end Junior Galette (left ankle), safety Isa Abdul-Quddus (concussion), receiver Courtney Roby (shoulder, ankle) and defensive tackle Tom Johnson (back) didn't practice.

Cornerback Corey White (left knee) was limited and defensive back Elbert Mack passed his concussion protocol testing and returned full to practice.
