According to an article by Brian T. Smith in the Houston Chronicle's online site, chron.com, the Astros organization is in negotiations to purchase the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs and move them to an area north of the Woodlands near Houston.

The article cites ballparkdigest.com about the negotiations.

The Astros' contract for a AAA team in Oklahoma City ends after 2014.

What such a move would mean to baseball in New Orleans is uncertain as the Zephyrs are an affiliate of the Miami Marlins, which would still need a place for its AAA team.

Eyewitness Sports has called Zephyrs' officials who said they were unaware of the situation at this time.
