NEW ORLEANS -- Sports Illustrated is reporting that second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick will start against the Saints on Sunday.
Kaepernick impressed in his first start of his career on the national stage Monday, when he torched the normally staunch Chicago Bears defense to the tune of 243 yards and two touchdowns.
According to Sports Illustrated, the decision was not based on health. 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh's said earlier in the week that he would play "the hot hand."
If the report proves true, Kaepernick will start in place of Alex Smith, who was held out of action Monday because of a concussion.
