BATON ROUGE, La. - ESPN is citing sources that say that former LSU defensive back and Heisman Trophy finalist Tyrann Mathieu intends to declare for the NFL Draft.
The troubled former LSU corner and return man was suspended prior to the season for alleged substance abuse issues and was in trouble again last month when he was arrested on a marijuana possession charge.
After his suspension prior to the season, Mathieu had seemed intent on returning to LSU after sitting out a season, something his arrest all but made impossible.
Mathieu was an electrifying playmaker for the Tigers who was known by the nickname "Honey Badger" and who became a rare defender to make it to New York for the Heisman Trophy announcement.
