Saints safety Roman Harper has signed a re-negotiated contract Thursday, a league source confirmed Friday.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Harper was set to make a base salary of $5.25 million this season with a $7.1 million salary cap figure. More than $2.5 of his salary became guaranteed on the third day of the league year.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reported the new contract extension fully guarantees his Year 1 contract at $4 million.

Harper was a second-round pick for the Saints in 2006 and has become a regular starter. In 2009 and 2010, he earned Pro Bowl berths.

In 2012, he finished with 124 tackles and two interceptions and since 2006, has accumulated 17 quarterback sacks.
