METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints have listed receiver Marques Colston and four other players as questionable for Sunday’s season opener against the Washington Redskins.
Interim head coach Aaron Kromer said the move to make so many questionable was to give the team more time to prepare and decide about the players’ health.
Besides Colston, receiver Adrian Arrington (right knee), linebackers Curtis Lofton (right ankle) and David Hawthorne (left knee) and cornerback Jabari Greer (sports hernia) were questionable. Arrington didn’t practice Friday while Greer and Colston (left foot) were limited. Hawthorne and Lofton were both full.
Only offensive lineman Marcel Jones (left knee) was ruled out.
Arrington returned to practice Wednesday after missing more than three weeks due to surgery to clean up a torn meniscus. But Thursday morning, he woke up with a sore knee from work a day earlier and missed practice.
Jones injured his knee in scout team drills Wednesday and missed the next two days of practice.
