Seven LSU football players are on the pre-season watch list for major awards.
Tyrann Mathieu, Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery and Eric Reid were chosen to the 2012 Bronko Nagurski Watch List by the Football Writers Association of America.
The Nagurski award is given to the nation's best defensive football player. The three players were also named as potential winners of the Bednarik Award -- another award for the top college defensive player.
Also on a watch list are three linemen for LSU. Chris Faulk and Alex Hurst, offensive tackles, and defensive tackle Bennie Logan were named as potential winners of the Outland Trophy, awarded the best college football interior lineman.
