NEW ORLEANS – The NFL kickoff time for the second game of a Sunday afternoon double header has been pushed back to avoid overlap.
On CBS and Fox, the games will be moved from 3:15 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. The 3:05 p.m. kickoff time will remain unchanged if the network is not showing a doubleheader.
The later time will reduce instances in which fans miss the end of a noon kickoff game because they must receive the kickoff of their home team’s late afternoon game.
In the 2009-2011 season, 44 games required part of the audience to be switched to a mandatory kickoff. The number will be reduced by 66 percent (15 games) due to the change.
New Orleans Saints games to be affected include:
- September 30---at Green Bay Packers (FOX) AWAY
- November 25---San Francisco 49ers (FOX) HOME
- December 9---at New York Giants (FOX) AWAY
