NEW ORLEANS -- There will be a bit of home cooking in the upcoming R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl as Tulane University has accepted a bid to play the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
“We are grateful for the opportunity for our young men and coaches to participate in this hometown event that will kick-off the 2013 bowl season,” Tulane Director of Athletics Rick Dickson said. “This is a great reward for a successful campaign and it is great that our team can finish in front of friends, family and our fans.”
The appearance by Tulane will be their first in the New Orleans Bowl and the school's first bowl appearance since 2002.
“We are excited about the opportunity to participate in the New Orleans Bowl and to play one more game in the Superdome,” Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson said. “This game is a great reward for the hard work and dedication our coaches and players have demonstrated throughout the 2013 season. We look forward to playing an in-state opponent and cannot wait to begin our bowl preparations.”
