Davis, Rivers set to play for Hornets summer league team

Anthony Davis’ first official time donning a Hornets uniform of any sort won’t come in New Orleans, but in the desert.

Davis was one of 15 players announced by the Hornets to be participating in the NBA summer league. Fellow draft picks Austin Rivers and Darius Miller also are set to play for New Orleans.

The Hornets will play five games in seven days in Las Vegas. All games will be shown on NBA TV.

Joining the three draft picks are four players ended the 2011-12 regular season on the Hornets’ roster: guards Jerome Dyson and Xavier Henry, center Darryl Watkins and forward Lance Thomas. Henry and Watkins are the only two second-year players on the squad.

New Orleans begins its week playing against Portland at 5:3 p.m. on July 15. A day later, the Hornets have a 5:30 p.m. game against Milwaukee.

After a day off, the Hornets finish play Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. on July 18. Another day of rest will be followed by a July 20 game against Dallas at 5:30 p.m. and a July 21 game against Golden State at 1:30 p.m.

The Hornets will have a closed mini-camp from July 11-13 before traveling to Las Vegas.
