WESTWEGO, La. - Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon will have limited participation in preseason workouts due to soreness in his right knee, the club announced Monday.
Gordon, who played in only 9 of the Hornets 66 games last season, underwent arthroscopic surgery last season on his right knee and didn't return to full strength until the end of the season.
“The team is taking a cautious approach with Eric to give him the best chance to be ready for the season," General Manager Dell Demps said.
Gordon averaged just over 20 points per game in his limited work.
Gordon was a restricted free agent during the offseason and signed an offer sheet with the Phoenix Suns, famously commenting that his heart was in Phoenix.
The Hornets matched the offer of four years and $58 million.
