Hornets center Chris Kaman could miss the remaining five games of the 2011-12 season after suffering a bruised left tibia.
In 47 games this season, Kaman has averaged 13.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and a team-high 1.6 blocks per game. He has led the team in rebounding 21 times and scoring 10 times.
He has a team-leading 15 double-doubles this season.
Kaman will be a free agent this offseason and the Hornets could try to re-sign him. He came to New Orleans in the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers in returns for Eric Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ unrestricted first-round pick in June’s draft.
The Hornets didn’t play Kaman for nearly two weeks, keeping him out of seven games, while trying to pursue a trade for the big man. Ultimately, no deals could be made and he finished the season in New Orleans.
