NEW ORLEANS ― The Hornets continued to tinker with their roster Monday, signing guard Curtis Jerrells from the San Antonio Spurs.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed and the Hornets did not say what or who they gave up for Jerrells.
Additionaly, the Hornets cut ties with guard Mustafa Shakur (3.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 asists) and center Daryl Watkins (2.0 points, 3.0 rebounds), putting their camp roster at 16 for the time being.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder undrafted free agent out of Baylor has yet to appear in an NBA game in his career. He played 50 games for the Austin Toros of the NBA D-Leauge, averaging 20.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 40.2 minutes per game.
Jerrells was better in the postseason, putting up 27 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists in six games.
He spent the past two preseasons with the Spurs and this year, averaged 6.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 15.8 minutes per game in five games.
While at Baylor, Jerrells became the first player in school history to record more than 1,000 points, 400 assists and 400 steals in a career. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 steals in 119 games with the Bears and was named All-Big XII every season he played.
