NEW ORLEANS — The Hornets announced Tuesday that they’ve officially signed first-round draft picks Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers to multi-year contracts.Terms of the deals weren’t disclosed by the team.
Davis, the No. 1 overall pick, is currently playing with the U.S. national team in the Olympics, the only player on the squad yet to play in a professional basketball game.
In his one year at Kentucky, he earned six national Player of the Year awards and was the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player. He led the nation in block (4.65 per game) and led Kentucky in scoring with 14.2 points, rebounding with 10.4 rebounds and field-goal percentage at 62.3 percent.
Rivers also played only one season, earning third-team All-American honors as a Duke freshman. He led the Blue Devils in scoring at 15.5 points per game, just the third freshman in school history to lead Duke.
