WESTWEGO, La. – The Hornets will bring in Kentucky frontcourt star Anthony Davis on Tuesday for a workout, an NBA source said.
Davis, last year’s college player of the year, is the consensus top player in this year’s draft and the Hornets hold the No. 1 pick for the June 28 event.
On Friday, Hornets coach Monty Williams said he has stayed in contact with Davis, something that’s possible because the youngster has yet to sign an agent.
And that’s something that, while Williams finds odd, can also be a good thing.
“Everybody thinks they have to (sign an agent) right away,” Williams said. “They feel like, ‘Oh, I’m done playing now. Let me pick and agent.’ It is strange, but he’s just taking his time, trying to make a good decision.”
Davis helped lead Kentucky to its first national title in more than a decade, guiding the Wildcats past Kansas in April’s championship game at the Superdome.
