The Hornets have traded Jarrett Jack to Golden State in a three-team deal that also includes Philadelphia.
In return, the Hornets get the rights to Edin Bavcic while the 76ers get Dorell Wright from Golden State as well as center Darryl Watkins from New Orleans.
The move saves New Orleans $5.5 million.
With Jack out, third-year player Greivis Vasquez will be the team’s most-experienced point guard with rookie Austin Rivers backing him up.
Bavcic is a 28-year-old forward from Bosnia who was yet to play in the NBA, instead plying his trade in several European leagues. He likely won’t play for the Hornets, however.
Jack had a career season in 2011-12, playing as the team’s starting point guard after Chris Paul was traded to the Clippers. He finished the year with career-highs of 15.6 points and 6.3 assists per game.
