The Hornets announced Friday that rookie first-round pick Austin Rivers underwent successful surgery to clean up bone spurs from his right ankle.

Rivers, the 10th pick in June's NBA Draft, is expected to be ready for training camp this fall.

The injury became a problem during the Hornets’ five-game summer league swing in Las Vegas last week.

Dr. Brian McKeon performed the surgery in Boston.
