METAIRIE, La. — Pelicans forward Tyreke Evans is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a left ankle sprain, the team said Monday.
Evans was driving to the rim in the third quarter of Friday night’s loss to Oklahoma City when he stepped awkwardly on his left foot. He hopped a step or two before going down on the baseline, clutching his lower left leg.
Play eventually was stopped and athletic trainers tended to the first-year New Orleans player before aiding him off the floor and into the training room.
Evans is averaging 11.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 24.9 minutes per game off the bench for New Orleans this year.
