WESTWEGO, La. – Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has spent time with Hornets general manager Dell Demps at each of the team’s pre-draft workout days.

And lest you think Loomis is just getting a crash course on basketball after having spent more than two decades in the NFL, Demps says not so.

“We’re in a transition period right now,” Demps said. “We’re not going over basketball. We’re just here really watching the workout, watching the guys potentially at No. 10.”

When asked why Loomis was in attendance and whether it was to “learn” basketball, Demps said he was there watching workouts, adding, “I don’t really have an answer for that right now.”

One thing Loomis wasn’t doing was asking Demps anything about unsigned quarterback Drew Brees.

“That’s out of my realm,” he joked.
