As the run-up to the 2013 NFL season hits its stretch run – 22 days and counting before training camp begins – we thought at WWLTV.com it’d be a good time to get the blood flowing for Saints fans.
And what better way to do so than by looking back at some of the biggest or most impressive wins in the Sean Payton Era.
Certainly our order can be dissected and changed and a game we left off could be put on the list. Feel free to leave your thoughts or memories on the particular game chosen today below in the comments section.
No. 6: Saints respond when questioned (Oct. 31, 2010)
Saints 20, Steelers 10
A season after winning a Super Bowl, the Saints looked adrift at sea by Week 8 having lost 3 of 5 games, including two to lowly Arizona and Cleveland. This Halloween game against Pittsburgh looked like an overmatch for the Steelers, 5-1 at that point.
But Halloween does strange things in this city and the Saints figured out a way to get going.
Of everything fans said on Twitter they remembered about that game, including waking up with a bottle of Southern Comfort under their pillow and partying all night at Lucy’s after the win, Sean Larken probably summed up the game best.
@wwltvsports 1. Goal Line Stand 2. Drew Brees 2nd half magic— Sean Larken (@Lark_NessMonsta) June 27, 2013
Quarterback Drew Brees went 20 of 22 in the second half, the defense came up with two second-half turnovers and a goal-line stand and the Saitns held on in a hard-hitting matchup.
And fans definitely remember how big the game was.

It was a must-win game for the Saints, who had just lost the lowly Browns at home a week earlier. Lose this game and the season likely is lost. But win, like New Orleans did, and turn things around for a playoff push.
