METAIRIE, La. ― Twelve Saints were on Thursday’s initial injury report as the team prepares for Monday night’s NFC South showdown at Atlanta.
That includes running back Chris Ivory, who was limited with a lingering hamstring injury that first occurred in the first quarter of New Orleans’ Dec. 12 win over St. Louis.
Additionally, receiver Robert Meachem (toe), defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove (knee) and defensive nose guard Remi Ayodele (ankle) were all limited while offensive tackle Charles Brown (back) and tight end David Thomas (knee) did not participate.
For Ivory, the rehabilitation period continues as the team moves closer to the postseason. He said he’s feeling better, but still has work to do to be ready to play.
“It was feeling pretty good early on in practice and later on as we got going, it started kind of grabbing on me a little bit,” Ivory said.
Meachem said the injury isn’t serious and that it was scar tissue breaking apart from offseason surgery. He said the doctor told him it would happen eventually and that’s it’s not going to be a problem.
“Doc said sooner or later the scar tissue was going to break up, I just didn’t know when” Meachem said. “I was ready for it to happen for a warm game instead of a cold game. But I’m glad it happened now to get it over with.”
Meanwhile, linebacker Danny Clark (hamstring), defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis (wrist), cornerback Jabari Greer (knee), linebacker Kawika Mitchell (hamstring), return specialist Courtney Roby (head) and linebacker Jonathan Vilma (quad) all were full.
For Atlanta, defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux (shoulder), linebacker Curtis Lofton (knee), running back Ovie Mughelli (shoulder) and receiver Eric Weems (knee) were limited while defensive end John Abraham (groin) and receiver Roddy White (knee) did not participate.
