Several national web sites are suggesting that a play where Peyton Manning got credit for a 7-yard pass, was instead a lateral. Manning broke the record by exactly one yard. If the NFL rules it was a lateral, Brees would get the record back.

The real tough luck for Manning, if the play is ruled a lateral, is that he broke the record in the first half and didn't play at all in the second half. Certainly, if he had not thought he had broken the record, he would have played enough to break it.

ESPN is reporting that the NFL is looking at the play.
