NEW ORLEANS -- Former Saints quarterback Jake Delhomme is scheduled to visit New Orleans on Friday and Saturday, according to NFL.com writer Jason La Canfora.
The Carolina Panthers cut Delhomme, 35, this offseason after Matt Moore unseated him as the starting quarterback after the midway point last season.
Delhomme struggled during his 11 games last year, throwing 8 touchdowns and 18 interceptions, and the Panthers surged in the second half after replacing him.
Delhomme started his career with New Orleans in 1999 after the team signed him as an undrafted free agent. He played in only five games from 1999 to 2002, but during that time he became a fan favorite because of his success in the NFL Europe league and his stellar preseason play. He is also an alum of local college Louisiana-Lafayette, where he played quarterback.
Delhomme left the Saints in 2003 to sign with the Carolina Panthers. Delhomme blossomed while there, as he took over the starting job in his first regular season game with the team and led them to the Super Bowl that year.
